cutting expansion joint after pool construction

Our pool is about 20 years old - pebble deck and sandstone coping. We just had it replastered and new tile about a year ago. Noticed a horizontal crack in plaster and some efferfecing of water line tile, with grout cracking. After research learned we should have an expansion joint and do not. Can this be cut now or is it too late?
Thanks,
Kent

Welcome to TFP.

It sort of depends on what materials are up against the bond beam and how far down it needs to be cut to decouple teh deck from the pool.

Post pics of the deck and coping for us to see your situation.

You have any pics of the deck during construction?
