This forum has helped me out a few times already, but I have another issue.
1. How to make hole larger in concrete wall for new skimmer? Details and background below:
16 x 32 inground with vinyl liner and concrete walls. After replacing the vinyl liner, having the sand bottom re-troweled, installing a new sand filter and pump, I started losing water. It's the skimmer or pipe going to the skimmer line. Since I have to cut the concrete deck either way, I'm going to update the skimmer. Apparently the one that came with the pool is really for an above ground according the the pc. Got an estimate of $3,000 to replace with a new wide mouth model. I'm tapped out, so I was considering doing it myself. Here's the issue:
The one thing I'm not confident in is cutting the wall for the skimmer mouth. I guess drain water, pop the liner and cut new opening but with what?? A concrete saw for a nice clean cut or air chisel then fill around new skimmer mouth with hydraulic cement like you'd do with a new return line? Pics attached, and yes- I know I need to replace the entire deck. Next yr. It's only money right?
