Hi All! I need some help & advice on our current pool build. 2 months in on the concrete deck & coping & 2 weeks in on the Pebbletec plaster. Super unhappy with the work & would like your opinions & feedback to see if we are right to be unhappy with the work. Backstory paid in cash over 100k…Reputable builder from all accounts & licensed. What do you recommend?

I’m not an expert on details but I admit I only see the possible leaking retaining wall? Maybe point out exactly what the issues are.

Hb,

It looks to me like your gunite was weeping (leaking) ground water into the pool before they plastered.

I had the same basic problem, but the builder would not plaster until the weeping was fixed.

You can't stop ground water from entering your pool, you need to route it somewhere else.

Show us some pics after gunite and before they plastered.

Thanks,

Jim R.

My cement decking looked patchy like that for a little while as it dried. Eventually it did lighten up and dry in a few weeks. NOT two months, though.
You've had a lot of rain haven't you? That might be delaying the deck drying?
What has the builder said?

Thank you all for your feedback. Pool builder came out today & basically admitted there has been a poor job on the concrete & plaster (pebbeltec). Going to try acid washing the deck & coping. And worst case demo all & redoing the concrete. Or we can opt to Kool Crete the decking. As for the plaster, we can drain the pool, demo & replaster. Delayed pool opening by 2 months & don’t know what we should do. See pics about the concrete conditions as is.. Don’t know that acid or sand blasting will fix all the problems. We have small cracks along every corner where the fire bowls will go.
