CHLORINE TABLETS

My SWG has malfunctioned and while I'm waiting to get it fixed (which may be a week or two), I need to add chlorine to my pool. I have some liquid chlorine and I also have some 3.5 inch Trichlor tablets.

If I add a 3.5 inch tablet to my pool (which is 40000 gallons), how much chlorine would that add, and can I just put the tablet in a skimmer basket. How much CYA will one tablet add (my CYA is probably under 40 now).

I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep my pool with the proper FC until my SWG is fixed.

Thanks

Thanks. Is it proper to add it right in the skimmer?
No. Never. You have a heater, that will promote its early demise.

Use a floater. But I doubt you will get enough daily FC from just tablets. You will need to add liquid chlorine. Best of course is to simply use liquid chlorine exclusively.
