Chinese Knock Off Pool Filters?

Has anyone tried any Chinese knock offs? I saw some on ebay (Pleatco PA120 Hayward CX1200RE Swimming Pool Filter C-8412 FC-1293 C1200 )
for $17.89 and thought that was crazy. I was just curious if anyone has had any luck with these, even if it was only half the life of a Pleatco it would be a steal of a deal.

I thought Pleatco were made in Glen Cove NY?? I avoid Chinese made things when I can.

I avoid them as well, but at $17 shipped... it's a little hard to not take a chance. I was just curious if anyone else had tried.

You could be the guinea pig and report back? Seems too good to be true, but if you can spare $18 for curiosity sake and have the time to remove and install twice when/if it fails...
