just drained and refilled my pool. CH is 30. I am going to verify this with my new TF-100 kit coming soon, but if that is correct, it says I should add 49lbs of Calcium Chloride! That can't be right can it??

How many gallons is in your pool? Please create your signature with that and other details about your pool.

What test kit did you use to get the CH 30 value? I would not make any chemical adjustments until you are using the TF-100.

The LaMotte Color Q LaMotte actually measures Total Hardness and not Calcium Hardness, no matter what LaMotte calls it in their paperwork. Total Hardness depends on a lot of other hardness factors other than just Calcium. Total Hardness depends a lot on your local water. Click on the link for more about that.

OK Thanks! It seems best to wait for the tf-100, however, it will not arrive for about another week from Amazon. In the meantime if CH is really that low will it hurt the pool for one week?
