If I use a water softener to fill my tub, resulting in the fill water having a calcium hardness of 0 ppm, is that OK? I'm talking about a normal Sundance hot tub not a plaster one or anything.

Will there be any effect on the plumbing or heater or components?

I know I'll have issues with foaming and I can always balance it out with the unsoftened water but I was wondering if there was any good reason I couldn't just leave it at 0ppm CH.

Also, I have a drop in SWG (saltron mini) and I read something somewhere that a lower CH is better for a SWCG... Anyone know anything about that?

Thanks in advance!

Fwiw - i have a ch of 25- 50 max in my fill water & i have never experienced foaming.
I added ch to get to the 150 range once to see if there was any appreciable difference & didn’t notice so i have omitted that every since.
