Cannot figure out how to turn spillway off

Newbie owner... Have Easytouch 4, spa with spillway to pool, no wifi at outdoor controller so no Screenlogic. OK with basic understanding of operation, schedules, heat, spa, etc... BUT I cannot figure out how to NOT have spillway going when pool filer/pump is on. Dedicated "Spillway" function schedule is off/not in a schedule of its own. Have looked at everything online, manual, youtube, etc... but no luck.

I assume the spillway, within the pool operation, can be controlled as part of the ET schedule or settings/circuit function screens.... but I must be doing it wrong.

Of course I think I have an Easytouch operation issue, and not a plumbing/valve control issue...but maybe not so have attached a few pics.

Thank you for helping a rookie!

Welcome to TFP.

Show us pics of your POOL/SPA return valve and plumbing which looks like it may be behind you filter.

You showed us pics of your POOL/SPA suction valve and pipes.

There is a box you check on the ET to enable SPILLOVER. @Jimrahbe knows where to find it on the ET.

Geoff,

The spillway function is not set up by default.. Someone has to do it.. I suspect you constant spillover is caused by your plumbing and not the EasyTouch.

We need to see pics of your return plumbing.. Basically from the other end of your pad. You can see it in the second pic, but it is too dark to see it clearly.

I can see your automated "Intake" valve, but I can't see your automated "Return" valve...

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you so much for investing your time to help me out!

I'm clearly showing my knowledge of this topic but not even attaching the relevant pics!

So may I infer that the spa is spilling over all the time when the EasyTouch is in Pool mode? From where is the water entering the spa when this happens? Is it coming out of the spa massage jets, or is there a separate, dedicated return feeding the spillover, which shuts off when the EasyTouch is in Spa mode?

Go out to your Easytouch and push Spillway (Fill). See what happens.

Yes.... the spillway is always on when the pool filtering is on... The source of the water is via the regular spa intake line (there is no separate dedicated return) and it causes the spa to overflow into the pool.

Thanks,
Geoff

Is water also coming out of the main pool returns simultaneously with the spa jets?

Geoff,

Well.. Your Intake valve appears to be in the Pool position and your Return valve appears to be in the Spa position. That is correct for the Spillway function..

But unless you set up the spillway function, it is more likely that your Return valve is either broken, or just set to the wrong position.

Why do you think that your system is in the Spillway mode???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Geoff,

Using the little LCD on the main panel, go into Menu, Settings, Circuit Names..

It should show 1/18, meaning page 1 of 18.. Use the up down keys and look at all 18 Circuits and see if any of them are named "Spillway"...

If so, which one.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks,

Jim R.

The spillway light on the easy touch goes on, but nothing happens (ie..the pool pump is on anyway, with the spillway spilling, and turning "on" the spillway doesn't cause anything to change)
Follow Jim's instructions. Appears your return actuator is not operating.

Jim -- Spillway (Fill) and (Drain) is under Valves. Button on front of ET.

Geoff,

So Circuit #4 is set up as Spillway??? If so that would be Aux 2?? Is your Aux 2 button on the main panel labeled Spillway? Is that the button that lights up??

If so, pushing Aux 2 should turn your Spillover on and off. To make the spillway work, your automated Return valve will need to move.. If the Return valve does not move it is more than likely broken.

If the valve does not move when you push Aux 2 on and off, then find the little toggle switch on the actuator.. It should be in one of the two "on" positions.. If it is, then turn it to the other on position and see of the valve moves..

Thanks,

Jim R.
