So I just finished my opening slam (only took 3 days yay!) and the family is looking forward to using it as soon as FC drops below shock level. However the water is still very cold so I would like to start running the heater ASAP. Will the high FC levels be damaging to my heater? Im at around 35ish cya and 14FC.

S,

Most heater damage is caused by pH problems and not high FC... the problem that I see is that at an FC of 14 the pH test is not accurate.

I am not a heater guy, but I would let the FC drop below 10 so that you can test your pH before firing up the heater..

Thanks for posting,
