Can a cartridge filter be installed higher than the pool pump

Hello all, first time posting here.

I have a 15,000 gallon in ground pool with a cartridge filter and pump sitting a bit above water level (roughly under 2 feet). Everything is working fine, but I'd like to re-plumb the whole setup so I can accommodate a heater. To make more room in the same spot I would need to create a higher platform for the filter to sit on. Basically the filter would site at a high where the intake would be about six inches above the pump's outlet. My question is would there be any issues with doing this?

There shouldn't be any issue placing the filter several feet above the pool and/or pump. It's not uncommon to see the entire equipment pad several feet above the pool.

No problems. Maybe add a check valve between the pump and filter.

Great, thanks. I figure I'd put the filter at the height of the heater inlet and minimize the use of elbows to optimize flow.
