Recently noticed a section of the upper sidewall has a bumpy feel to it. Feels like sand or small pebbles are in between the galvanized wall and foam padding behind the vinyl liner. Anyone else experience this before?
The zinc coating on the metal wall acts as what is called a sacrificial anode. The zinc will protect the steel from corrosion by acting as a barrier between the steel and the water, at least until the zinc coating has been completely oxidized which is when the bare steel will begin to fail...rusty pool walls.
