Yeah, I'm a little paranoid. Aiming for super longevity, and a pad isn't a huge expense, so figured why not.

You have the same stairs I do (at least the inside the pool part). I have the weights that attach to the sides. I filled the weights with pea gravel, not sand. Each season when I open I put about 2 cups of liquid shock into the weights and then fill the rest with water and put the caps back on. I figure that is enough CL to kill anything that may have somehow got in there.

I lift my stairs up, remove the mat, and clean under them about once a month. My stairs are located about 8' from my return, so the chlorinated water from the SWGC washes over them and has good circulation. Not sure if that really makes a difference, but I like to think it does.

I went and stole the rubber stopped from my kids' bathtub, and it works perfectly!

We hooked up the basic Walmart manual vacuum to get the heavy stuff off the bottom. We got the stairs in the pool but are still working on weighing them down - but that SUN got me to say I'll wait till it's shaded later!

Well, we have enjoyed the pool since Friday. Now the installer has to at least partially drain it to replace a nearly brick-sized divot that has appeared at the bottom near one of the uprights 😭 It's right where the idiot electricians dug their way-too-close trench, so it's almost certainly from the dirt having settled after being filled in and then having rain. We are leaving Thursday for vacation, so hopefully they can get it fixed up while we're gone (though my mom is staying home and will be sad she may not have the pool all to herself!). Electricians are coming this afternoon to hook up the SWCG, so we'll be talking...

Happy picture of my kids getting in for the first time :) (We finished building the stair railings and "bridge" connector yesterday, so don't mind our temporary mess there!)

Mine will be swimming in mine surrounded by dirt/mud and astroturf in select high traffic areas. Even as teens now, they will not blink and be all ‘Wooooooooo Pool !!!!’ As little kids they cared *even less*. :ROFLMAO:

Enjoy them in it while you can.
My son, (now 20), for the last few years, won't go in the pool unless he has friends there. No longer wanting to have fun in the pool with mom. I miss those days.

They're kinda killin' me with the constant asking to go swimming. Sorry, kids, but I still have to work. I can't just hang out in the pool with you all day! (And they're managing to get sunburn on their faces despite using sunscreen 🤦)

SWCG should finally be hooked up Monday. Tested my water tonight and had no chlorine. I was expecting to use salt, so now gotta go buy more chlorine. I feel like this will never all be truly finished!

My 16 y/o has not been in the pool at all this season, and has never been in our 3 month old hot tub.

Hi. Me again. We went on vacation and then returned and had to drain the whole pool so our installer could fix the divots - he smoothed out some messes made by mole crickets under the liner as well. Refilled the pool (which took DAYS...), and now it is up and built and perfect, right?

Of course not 🤦‍♀️

We added some chlorine to get things started again while we also added salt. Got the SWCG all fired up and ready to go. Initial salinity PPM was 0, but I figured it could take some time. Well, now it's been 3 days or so, and it still reads 0ppm salinity. I used a test strip from my Taylor kit, and it's showing between 3000-4000 salinity:

So off to the Google I went! And, surprise surprise, I think my electricians screwed up. AGAIN. The SWCG is default set for 220v power, and it's plugged into a 110v receptacle, which , per CircuPool troubleshooting guide, means it will power on and LOOK like it's working, but it won't really DO anything.

So now my husband is out there trying to remove the bonding wire so we can unmount the control module to bring inside, crack open, and adjust the jumpers.

So (I say that a lot!) we've been running with basically no chlorine, which explains why the bottom got feeling a little slimy so quickly after vacuuming.

By the time we get all this ish right, it will be time to winterize :laughblue: Luckily, nothing in (or not in) the water has deterred my 7-year-old, so he's been swimming daily while my mother or I usually relax on a float or brush the walls/bottom.

If the SWG is not working get liquid chlorine in that water ASAP!!!
You will get yourself in the same situation with algae taking over your pool if you do not add chlorine.
I know, I'm working on it...I have to go hunting for liquid chlorine because none of the store websites will let me purchase online nor tell me if they have any in stock.

Livin' la vida constantly annoyed

We got the SWCG correctly wired, and now it says we have to clean the cell (probably since it's been running with unbalanced water for, oh, as long as our pump has been running). So I added a couple gallons of chlorine last night and some stabilizer. I want to keep the pump running to keep things circulating and filtering, so we'll clean the cell maybe Monday so the kids can swim this weekend.

We're mid construction on our 27' AG hard sided pool...full of water and kids swimming this weekend...no chems or filtration yet
Builder is coming back today to get filtration hooked up and dump some chemicals. How did you determine your pool gallons? I think we should have the same if I'm not mistaken.
