I just ordered 55 pounds of boric acid. This will put my pool around 42ppm for borates. This by far, even with shipping, was the cheapest and easiest way to get the amount I need for 27,000 gallons. $108 with shipping being half the cost. It's a good price, but unless they've changed things in the past few years then it's powder instead of granular. I can speak from experience that powdered boric acid is hydrophobic and it's going to be a major chore getting it to dissolve.

I didn’t know there was a difference but it’s to late now. I’ll google how to dissolve powder.

Well it would appear I have the best chance of dissolving it in warm water. I don’t know how warm. 55lbs I can experiment I guess. Maybe I’ll end up doing 2.5 pounds at a time in a 5 gallon bucket. Lol.
