Boric Acid

Just wondering if this Boric Acid is okay to use for adding borates to pool?

My Alkalinity is at 140 for a Vinyl pool, I assume I should bring this down before adding?

Why do you want to add borates?
That TA is much too high and should be lowered prior to adding borates.

I am not sure if that product would be acceptable or not.

Just wanted to get more sparkle and get the added benefit of Borates.

I will look into lowering the TA first.

The sparkle is more of a hype, the feel of the water is better but not by much. Adding borates does not decrease your MA usage, it just spaces it out. Do you have pets? They cant drink pool water or they will get sick.

You would need 15-25 of those bottles, so there's going to be quite a sticker shock for what is really a very optional addition unless you can find it cheaper. I would also suggest finding granular, the powder is a real pain to get dissolved, it likes to sit on the surface of the water instead of dissolving.

And you are correct, you will want to drop your TA quite a bit before adding.
