Best way to add polyquat to the pool at closing

When adding polyquat to your pool at closing, can you just add it in front of a return without brushing afterwards like you do with liquid chlorine? If so, do I add the whole bottle in front of the deep end return or do I need to add some in front of the shallow end return too? A pool service is closing our pool next week sometime but I would like to go ahead and clean up the pool and put the mesh cover on now to keep leaves out of the pool until closing day. If it is okay to just add the polyquat in front of a return without brushing, I will pull back the cover and add it in front of a return the day before closing and run the pump all day to mix it in real good. If brushing is needed after polyquat is added to the pool, I guess I will go ahead and add it now before I put the cover on, even though the pool won’t be winterized until next week sometime. Water temperature is above 60 degrees so I don’t feel comfortable closing without polyquat since it has worked well in the past.

Just pour the Polyquat 60 into the water and let the pump run. No brushing is needed.
Can I pour it in front of my deep end return like I do with liquid chlorine, pour it in front of both the deep end and shallow end returns, or do I need to pour it in around the perimeter? In years past, I have always poured it around the perimeter of the pool and brushed afterwards but the cover is going to be on so pouring it around the perimeter and brushing afterwards would be difficult. Polyquat 60 is thicker than chlorine so I need to know what I need to do to get it mixed into the pool without having to completely remove the cover.

Any of those will work fine. Just dump the PQ60 in and mix it the best you can.

If I add the polyquat in front of each return but won't be able to brush it in because the cover is on, how long should I run the pump after adding it so it gets mixed in really well? We often get warm weather in November so I want to make sure the polyquat gets mixed in really well so it will hopefully prevent algae from forming. Polyquat is kind of thick so I wasn't sure how long I needed to run the pump after adding it.

30 mins is plenty for any adds. I also did not like how thick my algecide was so I diluted it 1/4 bottle in a 5 gallon bucket first. It didn’t hurt anything and it dispersed very well.
