Bad rust spots on vinyl liner...

I guess last year, one of the neighbors kids threw a small pencil sharpener into my pool and I missed it before closing so it sat there alllllllll winter. When I opened this year, I found it as well as several rust stains on the liner.

I searched old TFP threads and YouTube and saw the Vitamin C tablet trick but that didn't do it for me. I rubbed the tablet directly on it several times and I don't even think it lightened.

Is there anything additional I can try? Would leaving the tablets on the stain for a while make a difference? How would I go about leaving them on a stain underwater without having to stand there for hours?

Put a 3" chlorine tablet on it with a brick on top of that for several hours then check it.

I would not do a tab on the liner.

Maybe put some vitamin c in a sock and leave it on the spot for a few minutes.

If it's deep in the liner, you might not be able to get the stain out.
