My DE filter manual does not mention anything about recommended flow rate for back-washing. Does anyone have information on this? Thanks in advance.

I have two pools with DE filters and I never backwash any more... Since I have a SWCG, and a VS pump, I run most of the time at 1200 RPM.. At that speed the filter pressure is less than 5 lbs. I now just open the filters and clean them out twice a year. Once in the Spring and once in the Fall. You can't just keep backwashing anyway, as you can only get out about 80% of the old DE and the more you backwash, the less DE that will come out.
If I were to backwash, I would run the pump at about 2K...
