My pool builder plans to send a subcontractor to rough grade and back fill our pool on Monday. Gunite was shot a week ago. I believe they plan to use excavated soil to back fill and I’m seeing a lot of people saying not to use dirt. We do not plan to have a patio above the back filled areas, so I’m wondering if it’s still a no-no to use dirt from excavation for back fill. Most of the back fill will be outside the walls of the deep end, 8’+ deep, huge walls. Also wondering about compaction recommendations for back fill. I’m nervous that they’re sending a sub that may have never worked on a gunite pool before. Thanks!
