For the past two years I've been getting down on my hands and old creaky Infantry knees to plunge my arm into the water to get samples for testing. Today, I was replacing the filter cartgage when I realized that I've had a water spigot that pulls water from the bottom of the pool staring at me all this time...

I’ll have to check mine tomorrow. I’ve been attaching my sample bottle to a coat hanger!!!

I use a PVC pipe with my thumb over it to get my samples once I realized that would work.

Also very handy when you need to do some housekeeping at the pad with a garden hose.

There is no way I’m sticking my arm down into 55 degree water!! I’m another PVC pipe with my thumb over it to collect my sample.

Don't feel bad, I have the same spigot and have been doing the "get on your knees" thing too. It never occurred to me until your post to get it from the spigot.
