I see leslie has one but not what TFP recommends. Need to install my SWG tomorrow but don't have any salt test kit on hand. Amazon won't ship for 4 days for the Taylor kit and even aquacheck are not available to ship for 4 or 5 days.
Anywhere to buy a salt test kit locally in San Jose?

You could just let the pool store test it initially while your kit is on order. And then aim a little on the low end when you raise the salt level.
Since I have no way to test it now, for a 20k gallon pool, I'll need something like 570lbs to bring it to 3400ppm. is it safe to dumb 300-400lb in tonight and go measure it tomorrow @ the pool store?
I'd aim for about 2600 ppm first time. It takes 24-48 hours for it to fully mix into the water.
For salt.....I have found the Aquacheck strips to function well. I know I've picked them up at Lowes In the pool section. Tftestkits.net sells them as well. I know we preach no strips but this isn't a color matching strip and generally performs well.
As long as you read the strip instructions and use them correctly (NOT submerging the entire thing in water) the strips to ok.
