Any way to keep water off of in-ground safety cover???

I have an in-ground pool in PA that we’re about to close. It has a solid safety cover.

Last year we had a lot of water accumulation on the cover and, combined with the cold temps, the automatic electric pump we keep on the cover froze and didn’t work. We had so much ice and snow on the cover that it started pulling the tether spikes out of the ground.

Is there ANY sort of product that can prevent water/ice accumulation on the cover? I was going to try to make my own “bubble”, but I’m not sure if that’ll work or just make things worse.

I pull the cover pump in before any freeze and then put it back out whenever we have a thaw and water is accumulating on the cover. That also keeps the pump from being buried in snow which leads to GFCI faults.

We were doing this, too, but the problem last year was that more and more snow & ice built up on the cover, as it never thawed enough to pump off.
