I am working on pool that has an air leak.
the problem is there are no air bubbles in the pump.
But there is air, small bubbles coming out of the returns, the bubbles get bigger as the pressure rises, the bubbles get worse.
Thoughts on this would be extremely helpful.

Thanks,
PF

You're right about it not making sense. Any leaks after the impeller are on the pressure side which would result in water coming out somewhere, not bubbles from the return(s). An air leak can only be on the suction side, which is anywhere before the pump impeller. If you're not seeing air in the pump basket perhaps the impeller housing itself is cracked? You could try putting shaving cream on it to see if the bubbles stop or you might even see the shaving cream disappear.

As far as the SWG, yes it produces bubbles. In my experience the bubbles are larger and more noticeable with the pump on low vs high where I can barely see them at all.
