Air in strainer lid after new plumbing

Landscaper hit plumbing with weed whacker. Used water weld and was able to get skimmers working but could not get main drain to work. Had a plumber come in and they took pipes from 3 inlets with jandy on main drain to 2 inlets (above ground) one for main drain and one for both skimmers. Now my strainer lid on pump is filled with bubbles and basket does not seem to fill all the way. And this is with main drain off.
any thoughts?

You most likely have a suction side leak where you joined the skimmers. Bubbles at the lid can also be not sealing properly at the lid gasket. Use gasket lube and see if anything changes.

Gasket is fine (even tried a new one)
It looks like they combined the two skimmer lines about 2-3 feet below surface as opposed to how it was. Could this make any difference

The new pipes are leaking.. get the plumber back out to fix it...
