Air bubbles coming out of one return

So, I just recently noticed a new issue with one of my pool returns. Small air bubbles are coming out of it. The sand filter seems to be watertight all the way to the top of the water pressure gauge. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, or if this is even a problem. Please advise. Thanks in advance!

What speed are you running your VS pump?

What size air bubble is there in the pump basket?

Our pump is currently running 24/7 at 2500 rpm. There is a fairly large air bubble at the top of the pump basket (see pic attached). I’m also attaching a pic of the tiny air bubbles that are coming out of that one return.

That air bubble in the pump is not very large.

If the air bubble in the pump does not get larger and everything is working fine I would not worry about small bubbles coming out of the return. It seems to be what these VS pumps do.

Bubbles coming out of your return are likely originating in your SWG. They actually produce a chlorine gas during the generation of chlorine. I get them coming out of the closet return to my equipment pad When the cell is generating chlorine.

I also have a VSF pump and also encounter a bubble in the strainer pot. I did have a suction side leak on the pad,but even after resolving that the water level in my basket goes down when I run the pump at long intervals at low speeds ( I run mine at 970RPM all spring, summer fall) as that closes the flow switch in my SWG and gives me sufficent skimming most of the time. I do run pump at higher RPM depending upon other conditions. My bubble goes away after running at higher rpm but returns after a Long low speed run.

how long after a high speed run (example to vacuum or run a water feature) does it take for the bubble to form?

You can also check for small particles on that seal under your pump. Put a little food grade or similar silicone grease on it and see if that does anything.
