We use Hayward SP1419D White 3/4-Inch Opening Hydrostream Directional Flow Inlet Fitting with 1-1/2-Inch MIP Thread returns on our pool (like this one): Hayward SP1419D White 3/4-Inch Opening Hydrostream Directional Flow Inlet Fitting with 1-1/2-Inch MIP Thread https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004VTGNGG/

my daughter over-tightened the return, so the inner threaded part is stuck and can’t be removed. To make matters worse, in an attempt to remove it, now the whole return is spinning, which makes me think that the return’s PVC glue has separated from the plumbing behind the pool wall (this is an inground pool).

I can’t get any local pool companies to return my call about fixing this, so trying to figure out if it’s something I can do myself. I’m planning to (carefully) cut out the part of the inlet fitting that’s stuck inside the return, but I’m not sure how I would reglue the actual return.

Any suggestions? I’m attaching a picture of the part that is stuck in the return and can’t be unscrewed since the housing is spinning freely.

I'm guessing you cant dig down to the back side of that return? If IRC on vinyl there is a nut on the other side to hold that jet on. I cant think of a way to plumb that without digging or cutting deck.

Yeah, sadly it’s a concrete deck above it. I may try to pull the liner down and see if there’s anything accessible from the pool interior.
