Advice on Granite Spillover

Granite spillovers are not sheeting water over edges. before i speak with PB, I wanted to get some info.
I can't seem to find a few posts that I swear I've read before.... particularly one that mentioned some sort of "rule of thumb"... a 1/4" wide and 1/4" deep groove cut about a 1/4" in from bottom edge of granite... to get the water to drop off edge.
does that sound about right to anyone?

Cut on the underside, yes. It breaks the surface tension and the water will fall off the ledge.

I hope you have your automation set up to just run the spillovers a couple times per day instead of all the time.

not as yet, but there's a valve that can be programmed for the pool/spa common. I'll see about having pool builder set that up.
