Looking to validate my closing process. First attempt and first post. Hoping some information about the pool is include in signature.

Some more information about my setup...
Multi-port valve on the filter.
Janey valve on suction side (main drain and skimmer)
Only 1 Skimmer
Only unions are on the turbo cell
All plumbing is rigid
No water features, heaters, spa, etc.
Equipment is located lower than the pool water level. I believe this is considered a "flooded" setup.

From what I've learned here and some videos I'm thinking cyclone is the way to go and to blow everything out from the skimmer. Additionally avoiding draining any water so water level will be present in skimmer at all times.
1. Chemicals balanced.
2. Vacuum/Clean
3. Trip the breakers.
4. Remove return fittings.
5. Multi-port set to recirculate.
6. Drain DE filter
7. Attach a cyclone with an assortment of PVC to the only skimmer.
8. Suction valve set to skimmer. (main drain blocked)
9. Blow out returns.
10. Cap each return. Starting with closest to pump.
11. Helper turns blower off just after last return capped.
12. Suction valve set to block pump. ( I believe I can unscrew the handle to lift it above the stops to do this.) Should allow flow from skimmer to blow out the drain and not allowing air beyond the valve into the pump.
13. Blow out main drain.
14. Suction valve set to drain off to trap the air.
15. Helper turns blower off just after valve set.
15. Cap the PVC used to blow out the skimmer.
16. Stuff pool noodles or some empty capped water bottles in skimmer to absorb ice expansion. (PVC gizmo is to rigid but water is not below skimmer so leaving it in)
17. Remove pump drain plugs
18. Rinse DE grid and store inside.

In the end..
* Filter and pump drain plugs are removed.
* Multiport is set to recirculate.
* Suction valve is set to main drain off.

Anything I'm missing or getting wrong?

Welcome to the forum!
You have quite the list! Read Closing an In Ground Pool - Trouble Free Pool
Also, this Saturday we will have a TFP Expert Discussion at 11 AM EDT.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Have some questions regarding the article you posted but I'm going to hold off until after I can view the Zoom you mentioned.

Thanks!

You've got a great list. :goodjob: If you wish, another option to removing the handle (now or later) is to just cut-off that "nub/stop" underneath that will allow you to move the handle any way you wish. You might also consider removing the pressure gauge since freezing temps seem to mess with those. Keep all your parts/plugs in one common location. Good luck!
