Adding Chlorine for Vacation

I'm in the same situation. I have my CYA down to 50 (worked down from 75). Going on vacation for a week. I have 3" trichlor tabs that I stopped using once I learned from TFP that it was adding/raising my CYA. Do I bump to SLAM level and put the float back in with 3" tabs? Pool will have solar cover on (I'm not convinced this cover blocks any UV though :> ) Is there any math out there that would calculate the CYA impact from each 3" tablet?

Certainly! PoolMath
In your pool, an 8 oz trichlor tablet will add 5.5ppm FC and 3.3 ppm CYA. It will lower your pH by about 0.3.
