Pool store this morning told me that 'adjusted' TA is what we should be looking at, which is function of TA and CYA. Is this true? Pool math and the recommended levels table both just state TA.

That adjusted TA thing is completely wrong. You want to use TA straight from the test kit. Adjusted TA is only ever used when calculating LSI, and there is essentially no reason to ever do that any more (LSI has been replaced by CSI, and CSI uses TA from the test kit).

No - just CYA. The pool store doesn't understand (normal).

The longer you linger in the Pool Store, the more trouble you are likely to get into.

Pool Math automatically calculates the adjusted TA internally when computing the CSI (that's the only time adjusted TA is needed) so you don't need to worry about it.
