Ultra Flow Questions

I have a customer that has a Ultra Flow 1 1/2 hp pool pump. The motor gave up the ghost so I went to SCP and got a replacement motor. When I split the pump I discovered cracks in the impeller. I replaced it with the same part number only to discover that the impeller that came of was a 1 hp impeller. Long story short, I got the correct impeller and put it back together. now the motor cycles on and off. We warrantied the motor with a new one and it does the same thing. I have double checked that I have it wired correctly. Its wired for 115 and yes I have the switch in the right position. I have replaced a lot of motors with no problems but this one has me stumped!
Any thoughts would be a huge help.

how long does it cycle on for and off for?. Does it sound like it is straining?

About five minutes at a time.
I briefly ran the pump by its self to hear if there was any interference between the impeller and diffuser but it was very quite.
When you put it back on the wet side it becomes more noisy. It seems to have plenty of water flow.
