Need help finding best/effective way to filter & remove excessive dead algae

Nightmare this year! Solar cover left on since early last Fall 2014 (winter cover always blown to shreds & useless regardless of reinforcements used so left thickest solar cover on since Sept - June - to "winter"). Started opening 6/9 w/ masses algae as expected + significant dead algae particles still left from last year (never 100% removed due to heater/filter repairs). + this June was heaviest rains on record. Achieved balanced pool chemistry, but profoundly cloudy - visable fine goopy floating particles. Got chlorines good & high for floc shut down. (Let floc sit 48 hrs w/ alot of hard rains in between - since did not look like anything happened - restated filter w/o vac at 72 hrs to get chlorine up). Determined floc could be working although could not see bottom yet. Got chem balanced - got chlorine high - 2nd floc treatment. Again hard rains (pop up tstorms not predictable). Did a "blind vacuum" 48 hrs later & removed more debris in 5 years combined. Stirring it all up - (noticed after all stirred up - pool went green again like it was trapped under debris layer). Needed to repeat vac/chems BUT had to leave for 6 day trip at this stage of course - left chlorinator on high added pucks to floater & return. Had house sitter add granular daily until it was out (hectic & ran out rest of chems).
Upon return Mon 6/29 - no chlorine (expected) & green but could see bottom! Alot of green on bottom in spots (side walls clear) (filter was good & full needed BW). Filtering; restarted & balanced chems including adding Sea - Klear 90 Day Algaecide Remove/Prevent at appropriate high dose visable algae. Water holding chlorine well now waiting for algae to die off fully before floc vac waste. Wondering - what is best way in addition to floc (as soon as water goes blue-white cloudy) to get all these 1 micron dead algae particles out? New sand 6/9 start (but now using reg size filter on pool vs my big inground filter used every year prior until early freeze & crack last Oct). How many days would I expect to see water clear after next floc vac to waste? (This will only be 2nd vac - but 1st vac while "blind" took 3 hours going by feel). Will sand filter need zeolite, an aid (will that 1 dose filtered floc help sand p/u finer particles); is there anything will get the 1 micron particles when sand gets 2 micron? (My 1st post hope signature attaches). Thank you in advance (lots of info in here).

Wow, that as quite the wall of text you left us there, lol! Ok, here goes:

1st: STOP throwing chemicals blindly into the pool, especially the floc. Read Pool School by clicking the link at the top of the page.
2nd: You mentioned several times that your chems were balanced, but you never stated what the levels were. We need to know that in order to help you.
3rd: Where are you getting your water tested/What kind of test are you using? If the pool store is testing your water, stop and get one of the reccomended test kits.
4th: Dont worry about filtration beyond what your sand filter can provide. If you follow the advice on this site, you will have crystal clear water with your current filter.
