Advice on replacing a pump with a better model/brand?

My pump has bit the dust. motor bearings have gone out due to repeated floodings. (we have our AG built in the ground with a moat around). Should we stick with a straight replacement part from Intex, or take this opportunity to upgrade to a better quality? (unsure how to mix a different pump with the sand filter we have that came with)
