Foam Bottom questions

Hi All,
I purchased a intex 16 x 32 Ultra Frame pool, and it sounds like the 4 x 8 sheets of pink foam would make the best bottom...

Menards has 1" tonge and groove for $ 16 a sheet. I believe I need 16 sheets of it... ( $ 315 with tax and gorrilla tape ouch! )

Question 1:

Is the 1" thick enough?

Question 2:

If so is $ 16 a sheet what most of you are paying or where can I buy cheaper?

Question 3:

I have topsoil here in ohio and was going to just rake out the top soil as smooth as possible then I was thinking about putting a cheap tarp over the dirt before the foam.
Do you guys put the foam right on the top soil or a tarp in between the dirt and the foam?

We put up a 22' Intex this year with the foam. Our last pool, we didn't have it. What a huge difference!

Planned to use the 3/4" foam but lucked out when Home Depot didn't have enough sheets in stock. They
Sold us 1 1/2" for the price of 3/4. Sweet at $15 per sheet. We put it directly on dirt.

how many sheets did you have to buy for a 22' intex?

We bought 16 sheets but had the equivalent of at least two full sheets left over. We could have done it with 14.

I used 1", and its plenty. Just love the feeling on the feet.

Did you put the gorrilla pad under the foam or on top of the foam?

Under the foam so nothing grows through it.

Used the 3/4" extruded foam sheets from Lowes around $15/sheet. For 16'x32' pool I needed 16 sheets. Worth the price!

I used the foam as well, in my signature is my pool build with allot of photos. The pink stuff is not available in my area so I used the white stuff.
