Ok, this is our 2nd year and I don't believe we ever really got crystal clear water last year. We have only in the last two weeks opened our pool. We finally have the water level up and have had our pump/filter running for a week and a half now. I did an initial test of the water with the TF100 kit. Don't have those numbers right in front of me, but little to no chlorine, CYA (dot never disappeared) was low and PH was high (8.2).
I put some stabilizer/conditioner in the water about a week ago. It is still disolving. I have been dumping chlorine in like crazy using a target of 10 for SLAM, but I don't know if that is the correct goal or not. I went back last night and looked at threads from last year and it looks like the target was 12. Can you tell me how that is determined? I was using 10 as my goal because of the CYA/Chlorine chart. Since my CYA was low I used the chlorine goal that was listed with the CYA that was in the pool. Is that wrong? Should I be using 12 because I am working on raising the CYA to 30? If so, have I wasted a whole weeks worth of chlorine? About 20 gallons!!!!!!
The water has improved, but we did see some algae floating a couple days after starting. The water has been aqua blue color, but quickly goes back to a darker green. We have seen the bottom, but again only for short periods of time.
I have been brushing the pool, as much of it that I can reach. I still can't get Wanda the Whale to work and don't know what to do with her. Her feet won't get moving. There is great suction, just no motion. I don't want to purchase a new cleaner and have the same issue in case it is something else and not Wanda. We have replaced the hose. I don't know what else to do.
There does seem to be a layer of dust on the bottom of the pool, but there is not any leaves or debris.
Would appreciate any help you have to offer. Frustrated at this point. Trying to read and re-read and I just can't get my pool to clean up. THANKS!!!!!
