Replaced a whiperflow 2.5 hp sf 1.05 with new 2.5hp uprated. Does this matter? Second had to use a lot of teflon on pump suction side almost 20 wraps sealed well and couldn't get pressure side to seal without a little leek. Tried 20 wraps but didn't want to go anymore in fear of cracking any kind of sealant better than teflon tape or tips would be appreciated. The male pipes are the grey ones for high heat and have had trouble in the past with these.

I don't think they make a WF 2.5 HP with a 2 SF. Or did you mean 1.2 SF?
A full rated and up rated pump with the same label HP are different in "power". What is the application? Too large for just pool. Do you have a spa too?

20 wraps of tape seems a little excessive. I typically use 3-4 wraps and a bit of pipe dope.
