Basic Cleaning - Maintaining pump prime when cleaning

I'm new at pool cleaning. I need to understand how to vaccuum my pool. When I attach my vaccuum hose to the vaccuum head and put it into the pool, some of the hose is submerged and filled with water, but a large portion is not. This potentially introduces a lot of air into the circulation system. How do I eliminate the remaining air in the hose? Is there an easy way to do this? Do most pump systems just work after you introduce all of that air into the system?

Go to the "Board index", then to the "Just Getting Started" section, and find a thread named "Pool Vacuum - how to use?" started by "anonaperson". The second reply to the original post by "spishex" should give you what you need. His option B is what I do and it works great. Sorry that I can't just give you a link to that post or thread, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Still a newcomer myself!

Gary, as I'm fairly inept with computers let me tell you how to cross link. (as this is in the deep end and the question got answered, I don't feel bad going off topic)

I'm substituting "()'s" for "[]'s" so what I type will show up.

Find the post you want to link and capture the address from the address bar at the top of the screen. Click the URL gray box and you'll get (url)(/url). You can either paste the captured address between the )( or put "=" after url: (url=)(/url) and paste the address betwixt the"=" and the ")". and type a word or phrase between the ] and [

EXAMPLE:

Say you wanted to link an amusing intro from one of the members go to the thread and capture the address - in this case it's post75396.html#p75396
now you can hit the URL button and insert it between the ][ (url)http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396(/url) to get this http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396 -- this is a little distracting so you may want to use the (url=http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396)here(/url) to get here

The URL function works for any web address you want to link

Well isn't that funny... I didn't use the URL for the first link so I guess you only have to use it if you want to use the = option -- I learn something new every day  (FWIW - I had just copied the "http//www.etc and it was made into a clickable link)

I hope this helped :-D

Hi Ted,

Thanks! I wanted to ask about this, but hated to bother folks with it. Figured I would just keep puzzling away on it. BTW, cute linking my own tomfoolery back to me!

But I seem to recall an interesting post of yours in that same thread, and the response from poolidiot, both of which you can (hopefully) see here.

Thanks again for taking the time to show me this,Ted. Best wishes for the New Year.

Cheers, Gary
