It certainly sounds like you are in the last stages of the SLAM where filtration becomes primary. That said, the SLAM requires you to keep your FC at SLAM value until the water is absolutely clear so don't let the FC slip.

Do as much as you can to help your filter (backwash, Deep Clean, watch the psi, brush, vacuum) and your pool will slowly clear.

If you can't see the bottom I would not swim in the pool. You can help things along by adding DE to your sand filter. If you decide to add DE please watch your pressure on the filter, as it can rise rapidly.

OK that was 6 days ago - FC has been at or above SLAM level this entire week and only today getting visible clearing (both jets and 2nd and 3rd steps clearly seen, before only top and outline of 2nd step).. a bit slower than anticipated but now can stay ahead of it. 200 gallons of bleach and 2 weeks. Yikes - is this normal for an evil algae takeover?
