DE question

Please help me with a few questions.

I am new to DE filters.

The pool builder gave me "splash" brand DE. This was white.

I was in Home Depot and saw DE...it was tan.

What should I buy??? Tan, white, Home Depot, pool store or mail order?

Is mail order usually the cheapest way to go?

Also, approx. how many cups are in 1 lb. of DE?

I've never seen DE powder that wasn't white.

Was the tan stuff at HD in the pool section??

It looked tan to me. Mabey it was white but in a tan bag.
