i have a splapool sand filter and the words have faded off of the top where you turn the handle to different positions. I know the most used positions, filter and backwash but would like to know the others. Have searched, without luck, online. Any ideas? Thanks

Do you know your model number? If so you should be able to find the manual online.

Experiment.
You know waste will put water in the filter opening and out the waste pipe. Gauge should show zero pressure.
Recirc will have suction in the skimmer and flow out the returns and no pressure in the filter.
Rinse will look like waste but with pressure
Closed will probably have the pump sounding funny.
