Every time I take out the basket out of the skimmer a small funnel forms and the filter loses prime. When the basket is in place I have no issues. The water level is high enough. My pool is about 4 years old and I noticed this last year and now this year. The only think different I did was switch out the cheap plastic hoses with PVC flex hoses. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. We just hard plumb pool this spring.

Mine does that after a few minutes if the skimmer basket is removed. It also does it if the weir is not in place or if I'm holding the weir toward the inside of the pool. It's not really a problem because you shouldn't have the skimmer basket removed except for cleaning it out.
