my de filter metal rod is turning with the locking bolt on top

Hi there everyone its pool season again!!
Well there was a lot of DE powder coming back into the pool from the return so I figured let me check the gird for holes. My problem is that I have a Hayward De 4800 (pretty old) and when I tried to undo the locking nut on the to the metal rod spins with it (meaning that the owner before me must have tightened too tight) what do I do now?? :(:(
Thanks for time everyone

Hi there everyone again
you know what? The filter was an older model then I thought. Its the type where you can just lift it up and take it out. This one has a bolt on the bottom as well so no wonder the rod moved with the locking bolt on top
