So I had a 16' x 48' Ultra Frame last year. Used the 2500 with it & had no problems at all. I upgraded to an 18' x 48' this year & if I hook up the wall mount skimmer or attach the vacuum to the strainer, the pump starts taking in air. Anyone else have this issue?

Welcome to TFP! If you don't have the hoses completely filled with water prior to start up, you will get air.
If it is a fe bubble of air let it run a couple mins, turn it off and release the air from air release valve if they have not gone away.
