intellichlor reading

How often does the intellichlor give a reading to the easy touch diagnostics, I added 150 lbs of salt last night, and my reading still says 1550.
i cleaned it before i started, and she was reading 100, i added 150 lbs...that brought it up to 1550, then the following day added another 150 lbs....but still shows 1550

The SWG should be off for 24 hours after adding salt.
Have you tested the salt level? The SWG is not going to do a good job estimating salt levels that low.

If the SWG is reading much lower than reality, then the cell could be failing.

Are you using PoolMath to calculate how much salt to add?

im pretty new to TFP, so waiting on my test kit in the mail. I did run it up to the pool store for a reading (3000). Im not really sure how to turn the swg off?

Or set the output to zero. But if it is telling you 1500ppm and the store says 3000ppm ... I think your cell may be near the end of its life.

Did you have the store test the cell?

how old is the cell?

Typically, they last 3-5 years, depending of course how they have been set up, how long each day they operate and what the output of it has been over its life.

i keep getting the red flow light as well. so assume its on its last leg!

How old is it? Have you inspected it for calcium build up? Or cleaned it?

I've cleaned it and backwash the de ... Might try changing the flow sensor

Because the fluctuating salt levels while dissolving, especially if very high, could damage some SWGs.

I've never turned my pentair off adding salt. hmmm
The manual tells you to turn it off until you start adding salt, but I didn't interpret that as to turn it off while you add more.
