New pool owner basics...when to backwash?

Hi all! I just bought a home with a severely neglected pool that we just have revived this weekend looks awesome! I have run a large indoor pool at a camp but I am a little rusty. So my question is what is a good indicator that I need to look for going forward that I need to backwash? All my equipment is brand new at this point, would I even do it this season? thanks in advance!

Here at TFP we suggest backwashing when the pump's gauge registers aprox 25% higher than the clean filter pressure.

You might want to do a deep clean of the grids if you've been filtering a lot of algae/debris through. I've just finished doing mine, takes about an hour. I'm a bit of a saddo and actually enjoy doing it! Using cellulose it's every time for me.
