rust by skimmer

I'm seeing a little rust by my skmmer. Pools only about 7 years old, shoudl this be under warranty? Should I be very worried?

I have a small crack where the hose adapter screws in to the body of my waterways skimmer, so I think I will have to change it at some point. Do I just sand and paint the rust while i have the skimmer out?

I have no clue about warranties.

If you have the skimmer off, by all means deal with the rust. Wire brush the flakes off and then treat it with Naval Jelly. It will convert the red rust to black iron oxide - like drill bits and chisels have. Then paint it. I'd suggest epoxy spray paint, or at least a good brand of enamel.

When putting on the butterfly gasket, does the pool side go over the liner or just the wall?
