I had 45 CYAin April. I just tested and have 25 now. We did get some rain and I had to dump around nine inches of water during the rains, but I would not guess that would take away almost half the CYA. Does the test go bad? I suppose I could by more and try it again. Otherwise looks like I will be throwing in tabs to get the CYA back.

CYA degrades a bit on it's own. If I remember, perhaps 10% each month. That coupled with your drain makes your loss very plausible.
CYA purchased alone, rather than tabs, is usually a better way to add it to your pool.
