Can a 48" pool be made deeper by using taller liner and digging in?

We most likely will get a uses 15'x48" doughboy/lomart pool this week end. It needs a new liner. I would love to make it deeper as I like aqua aerobics and every inch counts. It there a possibility of digging down 6" and having a deeper liner. I have seen variable depth liners but those have a slant and it would be nice to have a flat bottom. There is a good chance this pool is oddly a 15' which might limit my liner choices.

yeah, I'm pretty sure someone on this forum just posted a bunch of pictures about how to install an overlap liner ;).

Check out Casey's post about installing an overlap liner. It will show you exactly how to do it. Digging 6" deeper would be fine, and the shape of your bottom isn't really a concern (ours is done as a "traditional" deep-end, but scooped is very common).

I just installed that liner today in my brother's pool.
