Extreme green pool

I have a 20,000 gallon above ground pool. I just opened my pool 10 days ago. It was not too bad and I could see the bottom. I vacuum some debris by the hose and filter, after 1 to 2 hours, the whole pool became very green. I think because I did not use any clarifer, so the green thing came in to the filter and back to the pool again. I have used 4 gallons of liquid chlorine, and 4 pounds of super shocks; I also have been filtering and clearing the pool, but the pool is still in deep green color. I just used a test strip to test the water and fond CYA, TH, TA, PH are all very low or zero, except the FC seems not too too bad.

1.) I don't know which is a better choice, drain and refill the pool, or keep using chemical. I do prefer to fix it since 20,000 gallons of water is not cheap, plus, it talk a long time to drain and refill.
2.) If I keep using chemical, I want to use the BBB method because it is cheaper. Since all levels are low, I don't know what should I add first

Please give some suggestion.

Thanks

Welcome to TFP!!:handwave:

I will tell you, it didn't turn green overnight and it will take time to clear. But, we can teach you how to get it sparkling and keep it that was for a lot less money than the pool store.

Ignore clarifier, we don't normally recommend it.

We base our pool care system on accurate testing and only adding what the pool needs, when it needs it. To do that you need your own accurate test kit. Order a TF100 and at least include the XL option. That will give you what you need while you are clearing the pool, and probably enough reagents for a couple of years normal use.

While you wait for it to get delivered, you have a homework assignment. Start with Turning Your Green Swamp Back into a Sparkling Oasis

Also the TFP method may or may not be cheaper, but that isn't the point. It's about being in control, and knowing what is in your pool. The first step toward that security is an accurate testing kit. After all, you and your family are immersing yourselves in that water.....isn't it worth it to know what you are immersing yourselves into? The journey is worth it, and if you stick with it, your friends and family will always comment on the quality of your pool water.

Nothing to add to what they said, but I'll reuse this.

People keep telling him green is algae. I used algaecide and super algaecide for two days, it does not have and improvement although my filter cartage is very green in every few hours, and I keep cleaning it.
What I don't understand is if the algaecide can kill the algacide, will the dead algacide sink to the bottom, so I should be able to see the bottom at least?

Algaecide is a preventative, it doesn't help with a current outbreak. It is kind of like putting on a seat belt after a crash.

If you want to follow the TFPC methods (similar to BBB) taught here it will talk a little learning. You will need a good test kit (TF-100 or k-2006) and have to do a bit of re-education. Clarifiers, algaecides, shock powders, these are not part of TFPC. What is needed to clear it are results from an accurate kit and a plan of attack. Once you get the test results we can help you with the plan of attack.
