New solar cover - reusing grommets?

Just got a new solar cover, want to attach it to the existing Rocky Roller system (http://www.rockys.ca/grommet.html) but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the grommets apart. Any tips?

I use a large screwdriver to pry the two sides apart. Do it carefully, though. Put it in one side, twist it a bit to pry that side up a little, then spin the grommet around and do the same to the other side. Keep at it, and it will eventually pop apart. I've done this 16 times (8 grommets, twice), and I've only had one break on me.

So I made it even easier: found two large slot screwdrivers and slid one in on either side - pushed the grommets apart easy-peasy.
