Which salt generator to buy

What would the folks here recommend for a 5,000 gallon pool. I'm worried about the salt since I know lots of people that paid like $400 and had it die in 1-2 years.

The solaxx retro seems good that it just hangs over the pool and requires no work. But I was very very surprised that the place I called said it lasts about 2 years. Yikes!

I'm considering buying a 15' above ground with a cartridge filter and pump.

Part of me is thinking of buying a new intex saltwater system that comes with the 1 1/2 hoses for under $200. That way if the thing dies in 2 years its easier to fork out $200 for a new one instead of $400.

Do any smaller pool owners use the intex SWG?

There are a few members that have continued to use the Intex SWG systems on larger pools ... even running multiple of them I think ... since they are so inexpensive.

yeah that's the benefit I'm thinking of. And since my pool would be 5,000 gallons it may work fine.

I know someone who converted their large gunite for tub to saltwater using an Intel SWG. Been working great for at least a couple of years.
